Host families, Hospitals, and Awesome Parties

So much has happened in the last few weeks! First off i got a new host family! They seem awesome, but it is seems completely different from my original family and community. To start with i am now living on the other side of the country in a town called Pietermaritzburg (I have no idea how to pronounce this). Also Skye (another YES Abroad student) and I are sharing our host family and from what we understand they are only hosting us until about Christmas and then we will get new host families.  My host family seems great! I have a brother and a sister who are both about my age and a mom and dad. I am going to an all girls school which will be pretty different from what I’m used to, but I am excited about the new experience! I also found out that I am leaving Oklahoma October 14th and America the 15th! Here is a few pictures of Pietermaritzburg that I found!

In other news I’ve spent the last few days sitting in the hospital, because my mom had major back surgery. She is doing alright and hopefully will be going home tomorrow, but prayers for a quick recovery would be much appreciated. I have decided though that hospitals are always freezing because they’re trying to get you to catch pneumonia so they can have more patients. Ok i really don’t think this, but I do feel like I’m going to freeze  every time I’m in them for more than ten minutes. I’m also pretty mad at myself for not even mentioning my going away parties in my last post, because they were about the best parties ever! One was with my friends from school and they took me to do all my favorite American things. It was so fun and included my favorite restaurant , volleyball, movies, a sleepover, and capture the flag! Then two days later i went to a party with my friends from church. I honestly walked into this party thinking it was gonna be a roast (a party where everyone sits around and makes fun of you) but definitely was a little surprised when i walked in! Here is a picture!

They threw me a party with literally all of my favorite things! It was amazing! I walked in and was greeted by a life-size Winnie The Pooh! I love Winnie The Pooh and I almost started crying when I saw this! They had all my favorite foods, a miniature Gotham city, and everyone dressed up as my favorite things! I don’t think I have ever been so happy in my entire life! Here are a few pictures…

I seriously have the best friends in the world and am so grateful to them! I had a blast at both parties and it made me sad that I am leaving all these amazing people. I’m really glad I got to spend an extra month with them!
